应数学系副系主任李亚纯教授的邀请,2012年10月29日下午,英国牛津大学数学研究所John Ball教授以“What can mathematics say about liquid crystals?”为题,在闵行校区数学楼大会议室为数百名交大学子带来了一场精彩的学术报告,全场座无虚席。数学系党总支书记王亚光教授、副系主任李红泽教授、黄建国教授出席了本次论坛。
基于包络理论与拓扑映射的方法对四次带参Ball曲线进行了形状分析,得出了曲线上含有奇点,拐点和曲线为局部凸或全局凸的充分必要条件,这些条件完全由控制多边形和形状参数所决定;并进一步讨论了形状参数对形状分布图的影响及其对曲线形状的调节能力.研究表明.四次带参B all曲线的形状调神能力要优于四次带参Bézier曲线.
